72 hour kits reality check

My heart goes out to all the people in Japan and also to everyone that has loved ones there. We have been so blessed over here in Utah to not have the "Big One" hit us yet. All these natural disasters that have been going on around the world have been a warning to us to be prepared. So i decided to go through my 72 hr kits that hasnt been updated since 2008 and discovered my family would probably last only 1 day if we were away from home and because of my job its probably likely that I would be away from home. It was quite frightening. First I had to run down stairs to even find the 72 hr kit when really it should of been in my car. Then discovered it only had a few food items in it that had expired in 2008. So my shopping list was made. Then I realized there wasnt anything for Vienna due the fact she was born in 2009 and my bag was made in 2008. I was totally not prepared. Luckly while I was going through my kit I remembered James had gotten me a solar powered phone charger for Christmas but I never put it in my in kit. How mad at myself would I have been If i was in need of it and didnt have it because I was to lazy to put it right away when I got it. I think it is something everyone should have if you have a cell phone. Expecially if your like me and that is your home phone too. Also it was a great reminder to establish an out of state contact that both my husband and I could call to check in to incase I couldnt get a hold of him. So my list is made, food shopping, and calling my sister to let her know she is my contact. So I challenge all of you to just check your 72 hr kits and seriously let me know if your kit was up to date! I will give you a gold star if it is :)And seriously consider getting this solar powered charger. Its also good for more thing than a  phone too!

Refinished Piano

So I have really been dying for a piano and luckly I had just found someone who was getting rid of their piano for FREE! Yes there was a catch. It was really old built in 1925 but I LOVE old things so itwas no problem then some of the keys were not working and they had started to paint it and never finished. Luckly for me I was actually excited for those mishaps. First I had to take it apart and fix the keys that werent working then I painted it black with some left over blck polyshade. I didnt like how the black hid a lot of the dimension of the piano so I sanded around the edges and LOVE it! The Picture doesn't do it justice. There is not a better feeling than taking something broken and fixing it! So all and all I didnt spend I dime on this project which is a double bonus!

Our new what ever table

I am so excited to finally get this done! I found this thing i have no idea what you would call it. It's a really huge tray. I found it at a going out of business sale for 1$ and i just couldn't pass it up. I had no clue what to do with it. Luckly I have an awsome creative neighbor, check out her blog poppiesatplay.blogspot.com, who help me make it awsome. She helped me sand it down (as in she sanded it down) and gave me tips on painting it. Then she cut out the coolest vinyl for the middle and then i just painted it. Luckly i found the grey paint for 5$ the purple stain for 3$ the the black polyshades was left over from my sister Stella's project the polyurethane was left over from another project. So the whole thing cost me only 9$. Since we dont have a coffe table in our family room I just set it on our ottomen and we use it for what ever. It's really nice t use for the girls when they color or paint because it hold everything in. I really like it for puzzles so i can put it on my table and keep it there until dinner and simply move the tray to somewhere else. I absolutly love it. Thank you so much Andrea for your help! 

Tired Little Itylee

Ok so Itylee is going through this stage where I dont want her to take a nap because she wont go to bed on time. This is the outcome of not letting her take a nap. I was trying so hard not to laugh.

Transfer pictures

Woohoo. It's been forever. A lot has happened but it's not my fault I couldn't post. We did not have Internet but now we do! I will slowly update you on what I am doing and a ton of fun project. First We moved To Eagle Mountain and we love it here. My neighbors are all awesome and creative and so motivating. Now it's my turn. First I am not feeling so good today so I decided to just watch t.v. this morning. First copy a picture onto regular paper. Warning do not just print one with a regular ink printer. My pictures do change through out the tutorial because I started with an Ink picture but it does not work & I forgot to take pictures of some steps.                      Next Overlap some packing tape over the pictures make sure it is nice and smooth and fully covered. Depending on the size of the picture this may take a couple strips of tape.

Soak the picture In water and rub off the paper with your finger,

This is what it looks like with half of the paper rubbed off. When I first did this I thought I was doing something wrong because something were not staying on the tape. Then I realize the only parts were the white parts and that's because printers do not print white. DUH EMMIE. lol

This is the picture just up against my window because the snow is white the girls hats and jacket turns out great.

This is what it should look like. the toner has transferred to the tape and is now see through.

There are a ton of stuff you can put these pictures on but i can not tell you what I am doing quite yet because I am going to do something for Father's Day for my husband, dad and father in-law and for mother's day for my mom and mother in-law. Saturday Night Drinks-Blushing Virgin

Yeah we moved into our house! I'm sorry I do not have pictures. We do not have the internet and I have not figured out how to post pictures from my phone. Anyways so James and I have decided that every Saturday night we are going to try a new drink. If anyone want to join please come over. Don't worry they're alcohol free. I bought two different books of non-alcoholic drinks so we decided that we will try a new one every week. This past week we had blushing virgins. They were so good I am actually drinking one right now as I type this up. I am going to post the recipes and if you try any of the recipes I post please let me know what you thought about it. But it would be best if you would just join us for our Saturday night drinks. Maybe play a little poker too.

Blushing-Virgin

Lemon wedge for rimming
coarse sugar for rimming
Ice
1/4 cup no sugar added pomegranate juice
1 TB fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/2 grapefruit juice (Squirt)
lemon slice for garnish

rub the lemon wedge around the rim of your glass. I chose to use a marti glass. Then dip the rim in the sugar.
Fill the rimmed glass with ice. Add juices and serve garnished with the lemon slice.


Now I actually like it better with out the lemon juice. I don't know If my lemon was bad but I thought it tasted better with no lemon juice. Well I hope you enjoy, and please feel free to come over saturdays to join us for drinks
